The Art of Not Overthinking

by Shaurya Kapoor

This book works like a miracle for me. The initial years of my marriage were very traumatic and depressing. My in-laws were just pathetic, and they still are now. The words they used against me were just unacceptable, and because of that, I fell into depression. But anyway, I am not living with them right now. This is the best decision I made two years ago. Still, the phase where I was tortured sometimes haunts me. The words just keep coming back to me again and again. In those days, thank God, my husband supported me. He became my strength.

Due to that past experience, I started overthinking a lot. I started feeling like I was the reason behind all the chaos. While scrolling through Reddit, I found a mention of this book. Though I am not a big fan of reading books, in the back of my mind, I felt I must try it.

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

Book cover for The Kite Runner showing two boys running and flying kites against a mountain village background
Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner

The Kite Runner is a gripping masterpiece that holds you captive from start to finish. It is filled with suspense, horrific realities, and an intricate look into the deep mental turmoil of its characters. This book will shatter you into pieces, yet ultimately offer a glimmer of hope that healing is possible.

Key Highlights

  • The Stark Contrast of Worlds: Hosseini beautifully contrasts the lives of Amir and Hassan. Amir’s house is described as a grand, intricate mansion, detailed so vividly that readers can easily visualize it. In stark contrast, Hassan’s mud shack receives only a few lines of description, emphasizing their vast economic divide.
  • Complex Loyalty and Strata: Amir is a wealthy Pashtun and a Sunni Muslim of high social status. Hassan is a poor Hazara and a Shia Muslim. Despite being a servant, Hassan is Amir’s childhood best friend, and Amir’s father loves Hassan like family. Yet, societal divides constantly test their bond.
  • The Fall of Kabul: When the Soviet military invades Afghanistan, Amir and his father are forced to flee their homeland, leaving behind their wealth, status, and memories.
  • Starting from Scratch: Arriving in America as refugees, they rebuild their lives from nothing. Amir pursues his studies, fulfills his dream of becoming a writer, marries his life partner, and builds a stable, happy life.
  • The Haunting Past: Amir’s peaceful life is turned upside down by a letter from Rahim Khan, an old family friend. The ghosts and guilt of his childhood choices return to haunt him.
  • A Heartbreaking Return: Amir returns to an unrecognizable, war-torn Afghanistan to find the friend he left behind, forcing him to confront his past and seek redemption.

Final Verdict

This book is a deeply disturbing yet profound exploration of humanity, love, sacrifice, and respect. It forces you to question your own moral compass and leaves a lasting impact long after the final page.

The Krishna Key

Author: Ashwin Sanghai
Book: The Krishna Key
Genera: Mythological Thriller.

It is the third anthropological thriller novel by Ashwin Sanghai of Bharat series who was also known as Indian, ‘’ Dan Brown’.” The story set about with the murder of History professor Mr. Anil Varsney who was also a good friend of Ravi Mohan Saini. The then the books go after Saini who tried to prove himself guilt-free against the murder charge of his friend Varsney.
The book contains 108 chapters, and each chapter begins with the life of Lord Krishna in fragments.
The unanticipated death of Anil Varsney puts a great threat to Saini who was the last visitor to Mr. Varsney. Did Saini really murder Varsney? What is the seal that Saini is talking about? Who thinks of himself as a tenth Avatar of Vishnu – ‘’Kalki’’? For all that you have to take a deep into the book.
As the mystery unfolds, the discovery and research mentioned shocked us that how our ancient India was so much modern than our contemporary inventions. Specifically, I want to mention the mind-boggling facts about temple Dwarka and Somnath which fascinate me the most.
Now according to me, I am no one to review this book of the famous author, but to me, the book was just remarkably great. If you are a lover of mythology and want to know more about the mysteries, inventions and history of ancient India with a bonus of thriller, suspense and drama than it is the perfect brew of all these.
